beach-08Most people would call it bad luck; some would call it fate, while the adjusted few would simply call it life.  It was about money-a lot of money, and Nick becomes the unknowing victim of the perfect frame.  As fast as the wind changes he found himself clawing his way out of a carefully constructed web of murder, deceit and greed and wanted for questioning in two gruesome murders.

The Nine Irony captures the Cape Cod experience with all its spirit and color, and has created real characters that come alive on the pages and leaving you wanting more.

Look for The Devil’s Parody early summer 2009

Tom Rieber NC Author unviels New Thriller “The Nine Irony”

by on Mar.02, 2009, under Blog

The Nine Irony back coverHello all you thriller buffs.  This is a refreshing look at human nature, living a sober life while fighting against some very sick people.  In the weeks to follow Rieber will give you snippets of this book and a short introduction into the next book, “The Devil’s Parody” that centers around the disease of gambling and just how far someone would go for a lot of money.  Would YOU cut off your little finger for $10,000.00?  Would you spin the cylinder of a gun and play Russian Roulette for 1 million?

Nick Thomas is a little bit of all of us, just a little more centered and a whole lot resourceful.  North Carolina Mystery writer, Tom Rieber, has captured a slice of reality while creating a suspenseful and  fun read.

New Mystery in Nick Thomas Series out 3/15

by on Mar.01, 2009, under Blog

The day is finally just around the corner.  It only took ten years of the typical writer’s procrastination and the kick in the a– from some great friends and fellow authors.  The Nine Irony is the suspense thriller you’ve all been waiting for with real people facing seemingly insurmountable odds of survival in this deceptive web of murder, deceit, greed and, of course, a little spicy sex. Nick is a little bit of all of us created from within.  He is a modern-day Travis McGee for those who remember the great John D. McDonald who is a saver of errant souls and broken hearts.  Have fun and enjoy this great read.

I want to thank my dear friend and fellow author, Jacqueline DeGroot, for putting her foot in my behind and motivating me to make this move.

Please join me in the celebration, location TBA.  The book will be available on Amazon.com, Ingram, Barnes & Noble and many others which I will post when I have the list complete.

Thank you for your loyalty and support,

Tom Rieber, Author and Creator

nickthomas.pngNorth Carolina Author, Tom Rieber is unveiling his new book, “The Nine Irony” which is Nick Thomas’ debut into the literary world.  Nick is a bit of everybody.  He is a tongue in cheek street philosopher, a sensitive and caring man and one who has been through the mill in many respects.  Nick is a 40- something, struggling mystery writer that lives on Cape Cod, Mass.  He is a divorced recovering alcoholic who wears blue jeans, drives a tempermental old MG convertible and listens to Bob Marley and the Rolling Stones.  He is embracing his second chance at life and living his true passion of being a writer.  But as always when things are going too good……the shit fairy pays a visit and Nick is perfectly framed for the murder of his ex-wife, Carla, whom he has publicly proclaimed extreme dislike for to say the least.  This intricate plot of murder, sex, drugs and money takes you through a web of unexpected twists that does leave you satisfied–A great beach or snowstorm read.

NC Mystery Writer, Tom Rieber, asks for your help

by on Nov.24, 2008, under Blog

You are all asking the same question, “what difference can I make to anything?” That is where you are so wrong. Look at what millions of people accomplished in uniting together and voting in Barak Obama, our first African American president, but more importantly a man dedicated to change. A man that believes in America as it was meant to be, not what it has morphed into by the fat cat Washington bureaucrats. Millions of people joined together to make a difference. Look at what The One.org has done to help in finding global solutions to hunger and disease. All this was accomplished by an idea that was passed from one ordinary person with conviction to another.

Why can’t we do the same thing? I feel that it is so important to start with our youth and our children; to educate them and to show them the importance of helping others and making a difference to those who will inherit the mess we are leaving them. I believe we can pay it forward and enlist those whom we help to join our cause and help others and we can grow one human being at a time. What do you say? Want to help me. I need your ideas, your support and most of all your belief that we can make a difference and leave the world a better place than we found it. Drop me an email and lets talk. tom.rieber@gmail.com

North Carolina Needs Writers

by on Jul.11, 2008, under Blog

This is a call to arms for all you frustrated Hemingways in the making. I have started this blog to help us all motivate each other, find ways to be recognized and published and most of all have fun. My name is Tom Rieber and I live on the sunny coast of North Carolina in a sleepy bedroom town called Ocean Isle Beach. The name says it all. I am also the creator of Nick Thomas Mysteries. But all that being said I think that we, meaning all of you, can have some fun in the process of learning our craft and getting known.

W hat do you think of the idea of starting a living book? I’ll write a chapter or part of one and one of you add to it and see if it can begin to take a life. Who knows where this could possibly go? I am also entertaining the thought of starting a local writers group for people with a passion for fiction. We just need interaction. We could have a lot of fun. So let me know what you think. Feel free to email me or post a comment here and let’s get this ball rolling. Sky is the limit.

Tom Rieber, Writer

P.S. I really don’t look like this—-all the time!
